Share the Simple Love!

For this year’s Mother’s Day, my wonderful hubby bought me a Ninja Creami (I know, and I adore him). Needless to say, we’ve been having ice cream every day since then. It’s become a policy of mine to never NOT have a tub of ice cream mixture in the freezer (I’ll explain later). So get ready for a truckload of Ninja Creami Ice Cream and Frozen Yoghurt recipes! The first flavour I am hitting the blog with is this Ninja Creami Vitamin C Frozen Yoghurt. Tangy, with a hint of sherbet fizz, this vitamin C infused frozen yoghurt is a delicious way to boost your immunity!

What is a Ninja Creami?

If you haven’t yet heard of the ice cream machine that is taking social media by storm, it’s time for a little introduction. Or, you may have heard of it, but still have some skepticism about “just another ice cream machine”.

Friend, from someone who has gone through a few ice cream machines, I am here to tell you that the Ninja Creami is going to transform your life (and feed your ice cream addiction, if it’s anything like mine!).

With the Ninja Creami, there’s no need to freeze the ice cream maker bowl, churn for 40 minutes and then re-freeze. All you need to do is make your ice cream mixture, freeze it for 24 hours, then blitz in your Ninja Creami. Then it’s ready to eat!

What you get is super creamy, smooth ice cream without having to hover or re-churn every 30 minutes.

The thing I love most about this ice cream machine is the fact that it makes the creamiest HEALTHY ice creams that rival any you could get in an artisan ice cream shop (I am not even kidding!). What I’ve been doing is putting my homemade yoghurt in the tub, sweeten it to taste and top it up with whatever flavour I have on hand. Voila, a frozen yoghurt that is creamy, full of flavour and free from the nasties in the shop bought stuff!

It’s also WAY cheaper than the shop bought stuff (especially if you make the yoghurt yourself!)

3 Top Tips for Ninja Creami Success, Every Time

Here are three key tips for ensuring your Ninja Creami Machine delivers the best results.

  1. Chill Ingredients Thoroughly: ensure your mixture is well-chilled before freezing. Ideally, refrigerate it for a few hours before placing it in the freezer. This helps the machine create a smoother texture when processing.
  2. Follow a recipe: a recipe will ensure that the mixture has the right amount of sugar and fat, and is churned at the right setting for the best, creamiest results.
  3. Avoid Overfilling the Container: leave some space at the top of the pint container to allow for expansion during freezing. Overfilling can affect the consistency and performance of the machine.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe

This recipe for Vitamin C infused Frozen Yoghurt is wonderful for all kinds of reasons, but we’ll pick the top 3:

  • It’s a healthy Immune Boost: Flavoured with Vitamin C powder, this frozen yoghurt recipe is a great way to boost your immunity while enjoying your frozen dessert! It’s a great way to get an extra immunity shot into your kids, too (they’ll LOVE this fizzy frozen yoghurt!)
  • It’s made from minimal ingredients: homemade or shop bought yoghurt, vitamin c powder, sweetener, and a spoonful of passionfruit conserve at the end is all you need to make this delicious frozen yoghurt. This makes it a super cheap recipe, too!
  • It’s super easy: no need to heat milk, melt chocolate, or separate eggs for this frozen dessert! All you need to do is pour yoghurt into the tub, and top with the flavours, mix, then freeze. In 24 hours, you’ll be able to Ninja Creami it and enjoy your super smooth frozen yoghurt!

Ingredients

  • Homemade Yoghurt – or shop bought yoghurt. I prefer to use homemade yoghurt because it is so much healthier and cheaper. Free from preservatives and sweeteners, and full of all natural probiotics, homemade yoghurt is unparalleled.
  • Vitamin C Powder – A tablespoon of Vitamin C Powder will made this frozen yoghurt taste like sherbet fizz!
  • Sweetener – I like to use Truvia for all my sugar-free recipes. You use less, so the recipe is ultimately lower in calories and cheaper to make.
  • Passionfruit Topping – after the first churn, the frozen yoghurt may not be the creamy consistency you want. Usually you would put a tablespoonful of milk or cream in then click the “Re-spin” button. A tablespoon of passionfruit topping works not only to make it creamier, but adds a lovely flavour dimension.

How to Make this Recipe

This is such an easy recipe to make. The hardest part is waiting 24 hours to creamify it and enjoy!

First, you need to put your Vitamin C powder and sweetener in the bottom of your Ninja Creami tub. Then, slowly add your yoghurt, mixing thoroughly as you go to ensure the vitamin C powder dissolves completely and evenly. I like to add a tablespoon of yoghurt at the beginning to dissolve the powder, as the Vitamin C powder can clump.

Then, once the powders are dissolved, fill the tub with yoghurt up to the “MAX FILL” line. Mix, pop the lid on, then freeze.

After 24 hours, you can now pop it in the Ninja Creami Machine! Take the tub out of the freezer, and follow the machine instructions to insert it. Put the setting at “Lite Ice Cream” then allow the Ninja Creami to work it’s magic!

Once the cycle is finished, the mixture will look a little bit powdery. Don’t stress! Just add your passionfruit topping, pop the lid back on, then select “RE-SPIN”. This time, the mixture will look lovely and creamy, exactly what we want!

Enjoy!

Notes

1. Chill Ingredients Thoroughly

Ensure your mixture is well-chilled before freezing. Ideally, refrigerate it for 24 hours before placing it in the freezer. This helps the machine create a smoother texture when processing.

2. Experiment with Mix-Ins

After the initial cycle, add mix-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit pieces for added texture and flavor. Use the mix-in function to evenly distribute these additions. Freeze-dried raspberries would be absolutely stunning!

3. Avoid Overfilling the Container

Leave some space at the top of the pint container to allow for expansion during freezing. Overfilling can affect the consistency and performance of the machine. Be sure to not fill beyond the "MAX FILL" line.

4. Don't be afraid to re-spin

Pressing the re-spin button will only make your ice-cream more creamy. If your ice cream is a bit crumbly after the first round, simply pop it back in your Ninja Creami, and hit "RE SPIN". That should do the trick!
