Share the Simple Love!

Embarking on a week-long fitness adventure, I delved into the heart-pounding world of Growing Annanas’ incredibly intense and effective home workout channel, documenting the highs, the lows, and the unexpected triumphs. This is not just a review; it’s a narrative of conquering challenges and discovering the intensity that comes with every Growing Annanas session.

The Dreaded Challenge: It’s Growing Annana’s Week for Review

The reality of six consecutive days of back-to-back Growing Annanas workouts was daunting to this self-proclaimed home workout junkie. This series of Youtube Workout Reviews is a fitness journey undertaken in the name of blogging and self-discovery, but I’m not gonna lie. I was dreading this week.

Growing Annanas’ workouts are the kind that will do you once, and take weeks to recover from. And here I am, doing 6 days in a row of these beautiful nightmares.  And never will I do it. Ever again.

Growing‘ Annanas is certainly doing just that – she has over 2 million subscribers and is still growing!

People, this girl is TOUGH.  Even her easy workouts are difficult.  I have had to build up my level of fitness just to be able to complete those.  And STILL I have to modify some moves.

The Workout Experience:

Workout Length:

Growing Annanas has a lot of 30-minute and 40-minute videos.  I find that if I want to do a full hour, I have to do 2x 30-minute videos, as she doesn’t have many 20-minute or 10-minute videos to supplement the 40-minute ones.

This is a pain for me, because I quite like to do the 3-2-1 method (one long 30-minute workout, then 20 minutes then 10).  I just do not like committing myself to 40 minutes, or finishing a 30-minute workout knowing that I must do that same amount, all over again.  The workout hour flies by quite quickly for me if I segment it the 3-2-1 way.  I missed not being able to do this.

Score for workout length options: 7/10

Workout Variety:

For an effective home workout, variety is key. Even though Growing Annanas does not have variety in the way I like variety: dance, or Pilates, or all walking etc.  Her variety is more in the form of: leg day, arm day, core, glutes.

In saying that, she has kick-boxing and tabata workout options, but they are generally in the same style – strength based movements.

I find strength-based exercises quite challenging and it is quite daunting for me to complete a whole week of these kinds of workouts.  But boy, does my body feel honed and toned!

Score for workout variety: 7/10

Workout intensity:

Well, if an effective home workout could be judged purely on intensity, Growing Annana’s channel takes the gold. As I said earlier, Growing Annanas is a tough girl, and her workouts follow suit. They are ALL hard. Just when you think “surely the next move is going to be a “breather” move”, she STINGS you with an EVEN harder move!

But, at the end of the day, my body is getting pushed, and I get to practice the art of challenging myself, which you should never stop doing.

She does have lots of low impact, no jumping options, but even these are intense – filled with press-ups and squats so low you can practically kiss the ground with your bum.

Aaaanyway.

Her level of workout intensity means you would probably have to have built up your fitness levels considerably before you could complete even her beginners’ workouts.  Think of it as a goal channel – you will feel so good when you reach this level!

Disclaimer: I could not complete her workouts for years, so I am pretty chuffed to have done a whole week in a row!

Score for intensity: 10/10 (because it’s good for you intensity)

Video watchability:

User-friendliness is a big factor of enjoying your effective home workout.  Does it have a progress bar at the top of the screen so you can see how much of the workout is left?  Can you clearly see what the next move is going to be?

All of Growing Annanas’ workouts have the progress bar with a % complete label, which helps to motivate me.  I like know how much I have done and how much is left. She also includes a little timer in the corner of the screen for the movement segment.

Most effective home Workout CHannel?
I like to see the progress bar, ok?

The next move previews are on tiny little inserts in the corner of the screen, which makes it tricky to see what you actually have to do (I tend to watch the video on my mobile).  However, Growing Annanas tends not to have many combination moves, so it doesn’t take long to know and master the moment.

Score for watchability: 7/10

Favourite Move

Growing Annana’s favourite move makes you throw your hands up in despair. It’s either Press ups, or Squats. No, press ups.  Or maybe squats?  She loves doing multiple press up or squat moves back to back – talk about tired muscles!

Rating: 3/10

Is Growing Annana’s Youtube Channel Pregnancy-Friendly?

YouTube has a lot of “Pregnancy” workouts, but in my not-so-humble opinion they are lacking.  You do need to go a BIT easier on yourself when you are carrying, but remember that you have the birth and after to prepare for, so you do need to keep your body in shape for that.

Growing Annanas is a channel I would NOT recommend for pregnant women.  She just gets your heart rate up so high, and your temperature so hot, that it might actually do a bit of damage if you were carrying.  There are probably 1 or 2 workouts you might be able to achieve in your first trimester, but I would advise to steer clear of this channel.

If you are looking for a workout if you are pregnant, I would recommend Eleni Fit or Olivia Lawson.

Conclusion:

In the heart of this fitness journey with Growing Annanas, I’ve not only survived but thrived through a week of effective home workouts. The highs, the challenges, and the transformation—this experience has been nothing short of extraordinary.

As I wrap up my exploration of Growing Annanas’ YouTube workout channel, it’s clear that the intensity, variety, and watchability make it a solid choice for those ready to push their limits. From the heart-pounding workouts to the user-friendly video features, this channel has much to offer.

For the expecting mamas out there, a note of caution: Growing Annanas might be a bit too intense for the delicate dance of pregnancy. Consider alternative channels like Eleni Fit or Olivia Lawson for workouts that align better with your prenatal needs.

Overall, Growing Annanas earns a respectable 7/10 in my review. The journey was tough, but the results speak volumes. Stay tuned as I continue my quest to discover the best YouTube workout channel with the next installment featuring Olivia Lawson.
